TULSA, Oklahoma -- There will be no quarterback controversy for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, at least for this week. In head coach Todd Graham's weekly press conference, it was announced G.J. Kinne will start for the Golden Hurricane against the No. 13 Houston Cougars on Saturday.
Graham said that Kinne suffered a concussion on the first offensive series in the Golden Hurricane’s 27-13 loss to SMU. Kinne threw two interceptions and was 2-of-10 passing for 10 yards.
Offensive tackle Tyler Holmes will return to the starting lineup Saturday for the Golden Hurricane. The sophomore has been out since the second game, and his presence is expected to provide a big boost to a unit that has given up the third most sacks in the nation.
“We’re just not getting blocks made,” Graham said. “The good news is we’re not going to do anything but get better because we’re extremely young up front. We’ve got to get a tempo going. We’ve got to get a rhythm going. In order to do that we got to make first downs.”
The Golden Hurricane are riding their first three-game losing streak of the Todd Graham era, players Damaris Johnson and John Destin are calling the game against Houston a “must win”.
