What you need to know…
Oklahoma State (6-2, 3-1) is coming off a 41-14 home loss to the Texas Longhorns that derailed their course to the Big 12 title game. Wide receiver Dez Bryant lost the appeal of his calendar-year long suspension. It’s a tough time to be a Cowboy, but don’t tell the members of the team. Oklahoma State players and coaches will continue to do what they have done all year: Press On.
The Iowa State Cyclones (5-4, 2-3) have three games to gain bowl eligibility. If they win just one of their next three games, they Cyclones will be bowl eligible for the first time since the 2005-2006 season. If the Cyclones can’t top the Cowboys, their last two shots are Colorado at home and Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
Who you need to watch…
In the loss to Texas, Oklahoma State quarterback Zac Robinson threw four interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. His bounce back will be the determining factor in Ames, Iowa. Linebackers Patrick Lavine and Andre Sexton lead a defense that is allowing 99 yards per game, which will have to manage the threat of the conference leading Iowa State running game.
Junior running back Alexander Robinson leads the conference in rushing, averaging more than 101 yards per game. He hopes to lead the Cyclones to a bowl for the first time in four seasons. Austen Arnaud returns to his signal calling duties for Iowa State, after missing two straight games due to a thumb injury. Cyclones defensive back David Simms is fourth in the conference with four interceptions, and will try to cause more problems for the Oklahoma State passing game.
