OKLAHOMA CITY – OKBlitz.com’s Toby Rowland was selected as a recipient of an Emmy Award Sunday, the first individual Emmy of his career.

Rowland was honored for his story with 66-year-old Benny Meier, a blind runner who invited Rowland to be his guide runner in the 2009 Endeavor Games. The pair took part in four races and won gold medals in all four events.

“Benny is a truly amazing man,” Rowland said. “It is really rewarding to see his story being appreciated in this way. I am so grateful that he allowed photojournalist Dave Valega and I to join him for this unique opportunity.”
