David Goff OKBlitz.com Intern TULSA, Oklahoma – The
Tulsa Shock faces a familiar foe in its upcoming game. The
San Antonio Silver Stars visit the
BOK Center on Friday with a chance to win the season series against Tulsa. The Shock has gone 1-2 so far against the Silver Stars, scoring no more than 75 points in any of those contests.
In the lone win,
Ivory Latta led Tulsa with 15 points in just her third game with the team.
The Shock hung on for a 75-70 victory despite only having two players scoring double digit points.
Tiffany Jackson scored 12 in that game as well. Tulsa’s bench out-scored San Antonio’s 24-15 in that game with
Kiesha Brown and the recently traded
Kara Braxton, each posting eight points.
Tulsa will have to contend with the Silver Stars’ powerful offensive attack, led by 6-foot-1 forward
Sophia Young. The four-year veteran leads the team in scoring with 14.6 points per game. In the three games against the Shock, Young has averaged 15.7 points and eight rebounds.
The Shock has given up 80 points per game to the Silver Stars this season, but made some roster moves before the trade deadline to improve its defense. Tulsa added
Nicole Ohlde and
Rashanda McCants to help out in the paint.
The two teams face each other two more times this season, including an August 13th showdown in Texas. Friday’s game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.
