ISTANBUL -- Oklahoma City star Kevin Durant continued to dominate international play, as he led the United States to a 99-77 win over Slovenia Sunday.
The NBA’s reigning scoring champion jumped out to an early start, scoring seven points, three steals, two rebounds and two assists in the first five-and-a-half minutes of the game. That breakneck pace didn’t continue, but Durant did finish with a team-leading 22 points, adding four assists, four rebounds and four steals.
Durant’s Thunder teammate Russell Westbrook continued to produce as his minutes increased. In 21 minutes coming off the bench, Westbrook outscored starter Derrick Rose with 11 points and grabbed four rebounds.
The United States is back in action at 2:30 p.m. Monday against Brazil.
