LAWRENCE, Kan.(AP) Kansas junior guard Brady Morningstar has been suspended for the first semester after his arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Kansas Turnpike spokeswoman Lisa Callahan says Morningstar was stopped early Saturday on the Kansas Turnpike near the East Lawrence interchange.
He was arrested around 3:25 a.m. and booked into the Douglas County Jail.
Online jail records show he was released on $250 bond at 6:01 a.m.
Calls to Kansas athletics officials were not immediately returned.
The arrest is the latest embarrassment for the Jayhawks, who could be ranked as high as No. 1 in the preseason poll. Morningstar's suspension comes as university police open an investigation into last month's brawl involving members of the school's football and men's basketball teams.
